Winter Clothing Drive On until October 16

With the changing weather and the return of winter, the YWCA is once again collecting used winter clothing for families in need. This year’s campaign has introduced a new tagline – Parkas for Parents. “Parkas for Parents reminds us that it’s not just kids that need used winter clothing,” explains Julie Green, Director of Community Relations. “We’re also collecting more than just coats. We could use boots, hats, gloves, scarves and any other clean winter gear in
good condition.”

This year, the collection drive will run from October 6 to 16 and drop off locations will include the Multiplex, St. Patrick High School and the YWCA office located at the Rockhill Apartments on 54th Ave.

In addition, several retailers are offering a 10% discount for new clothing when a winter coat in good condition is donated at their store. Participating retailers include Weaver & Devore, Overlander Sports and For Women Only.

Needy families are invited to pick up winter wear at the YWCA office at Rockhill Apartments from 9am – 5pm on October 17-21.
