Status of YWCA NWT programs and facilities (As of Monday, August 25, 2020)
After-school Care OPEN
The YWCA after-school program will open in line with the Yellowknife school year. Please see the After-School Page for a full FAQ and info on changes to the after-school program.
Family Violence Shelters – Alison McAteer House (Yellowknife) and Sutherland House (Fort Smith) OPEN
Both family violence shelters ARE OPEN for women who are experiencing violence. If you are experiencing violence, please call the YWCA NWT Crisis Line at 1 (866) 223-7775.
Transitional and Emergency Housing OPEN
Housing staff are available to assist clients in our transitional and emergency housing programs. If you need info on housing or are in need of supplies, food, or toiletries, contact the YWCA NWT housing staff at 1 (867) 873-5760.
YWCA NWT Family Centre
Programming at the YWCA NWT Family Centre is closed. However, the toy lending library is now open. In addition, planned outings are now taking place. Check The YWCA NWT Family Centre Facebook page for updates and outing registration.
Youth Programs & Outings
Project Child Recovery is now hosting summer events. Check Facebook for registration and schedule.
