Social Media Engagement Policy

YWCA NWT uses Facebook to share news about our programs, provide resources to women, youth, and families, and provide updates about events, photos, videos, interesting stories and news articles. We want to keep our Facebook pages an open forum, but we are also a family friendly and community page and our aim is to provide a forum for healthy online discussion and feedback.  If you want to engage with us and our communities online, we ask that you follow our Social Media Engagement Policy outlined below.

YWCA NWT Social Media Engagement Policy

YWCA NWT has four official Facebook pages: The main YWCA NWT page, and three program pages:

  1. @ywcanwt (official YWCA NWT page)

  2. @YWCANWTFamilyCentre (Family Centre)

  3. @ykdudesclub (PCR Dudes Club Youth Program)

  4. @yellowknifegirlspace (GirlSpace Youth Program)

We want to keep our Facebook pages an open forum, but we are also a family friendly and community page, so please keep comments and wall posts clean. Our aim is to provide a forum for healthy online discussion and feedback where everyone feels safe, welcome, and included.

While we encourage you to share thoughts and opinions on social media profiles managed by YWCA NWT, we expect that this will be done in a respectful manner. Tell us what’s on your mind, but we ask that you follow these rules when interacting with YWCA NWT in an online setting.  Comments will be deleted without prior notification if they contain the following:

  • Graphic, obscene, explicit, inappropriate, or offensive comments or images.

  • Hate speech or discriminatory comments

  • Name calling, personal attacks, or disrespectful or defamatory comments about a person or organization

  • Spam comments or posts intending to sell a product or services

  • Comments that violate a person’s personal privacy or the sharing of personal and confidential information about another person and/or organization

  • Other comments that the social media team deems inappropriate

Sometimes, we post external links on our pages. This does not constitute an official endorsement or support on behalf of YWCA NWT or its programs – it’s something we found interesting or wanted to share!

Let’s get to know each other!

Thank you for posting, sharing, and engaging with us!
