2024 Holiday Closures & 2025 Re-opening

YWCA NWT offices and programs will be closed on the statutory holidays of December 25, 26, 2024, and January 1, 2025.

Alison McAteer House Family Violence Shelter is open over the holidays, 24/7. 

  • If you are experiencing violence and want to stay at our family violence shelter or need help with an Emergency Protection Order (EPO) or safety plan, call our 24/7 crisis line at 1-866-223-7775. Alison McAteer House family violence shelter is open 24/7 over the holidays and can assist with EPO’s. 
     

  • The Transitional Housing office, including Lynn’s Place and Gotı̨li Kǫ̀, are open on December 27, 30 and 31, 2024 and closed on December 25, 26, 2024 and January 1, 2025 for statutory holidays. No food programs are available during this time. The office will return to normal operating hours on January 2, 2025. For housing enquiries, call (867) 446-5116. NOTE: This phone will only be answered from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday, but NOT on statutory holidays. 
     

  • The Independent Legal Advice program is available over the holiday but closed on statutory holidays of December 25, 26 and January 1. Call (867) 765-8670 for assistance.
     

  • Project Child Recovery and GirlSpace youth programs are closed from December 19, 2024 and will re-open on January 6, 2025. 
     

  • YWCA NWT Family Centre will be closed from December 21-29, and be open December 30 and 31. It will be closed from January 1 - 5, and reopen on January 6, 2025.  
     

  • The After School care program last day is December 20, 2024 for both districts. The program at the Yellowknife Catholic School district re-opens on January 6, 2025 and January 7, 2025 for YK1 district. 
     

  • Safe homes in Fort Simpson and Fort Good Hope will resume normal operation on Jan 2, 2025. To access the program in these communities, contact the Safe Home Coordinator in Fort Good Hope at (867) 496-0523 or in Fort Simpson, contact the Victim Services Coordinator at 867-695-3136.
