Holiday Opening Hours

YWCA NWT offices and programs will be closed on the statutory holidays of December 25, 26, and January 1. Alison McAteer House Family Violence Shelter is open over the holidays, 24/7. 

• If you are experiencing violence and want to stay at our family violence shelter or need help with an Emergency Protection Order (EPO) or safety plan, call our 24/7 crisis line at 1-866-223-7775. Alison McAteer House family violence shelter is open 24/7 over the holidays and can assist with EPO’s. 
   

• The Transitional Housing office, including Lynn’s Place and Gotı̨li Kǫ̀, is open on December 27 to 29, and closed on December 25, 26, and January 1 for statutory holidays. No food programs are available during this time. The office will return to normal operating hours on January 2, 2024. For housing enquiries, call (867) 873-5760.
   

• The Independent Legal Advice program is available over the holiday but closed on statutory holidays of December 25, 26 and January 1. Call (867) 765-8670 for assistance.
   

• Project Child Recovery and GirlSpace youth programs and the YWCA NWT Family Centre are closed over the holidays and will re-open on January 2, 2024. 
   

• Safe homes in Fort Simpson and Fort Good Hope are available from Dec 27-29th and resume normal operation on Jan 2, 2024. To access the program in these communities, contact the Safe Home Coordinator in Fort Good Hope at (867) 496-0523 or in Fort Simpson, contact the Victim Services Coordinator at 867-695-3136.
